Mange år før Abraham Lincoln bliver Amerikas 16. præsident, dræbes hans mor af vampyrer. Derfor er det kun naturligt, at 'Abe' ønsker hævn over de dæmoniske blodsugere. Som ung mand rekrutteres Lincoln af den gådefulde Henry Sturges, som lærer ham at nakke vampyrer med sølvpatroner. Lincoln skal siden få brug for sin træning, da borgerkrigen bryder ud mellem nord- og sydstaterne under hans præsidentskab.
